Some of the team staff went close to the fans and shaken hands, while some just wanted. But, Kohli’s gesture must have made the day of the fans.

Meanwhile, India beat Australia by 137 runs to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series. This also is the first time India has retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Australian soil. It also happens to be the first time the team has won a Boxing Day Test and the first time in MCG after 37 years. Cheteshwar Pujara was the other candidate for the Man of the Match for his 17th Test century where he set it up for the team. It was a knock where he also stitched an important 170-run stand with Virat Kohli, who hit a brilliant 82.

Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the Man of the Match and rightly so, for his brilliant display of fast bowling in the match where he scalped nine wickets for the match, which included a career-best six for 33.

Earlier at the MCG ground after the match, an elated Kohli was so happy that he did not think twice before giving his pads to the young fan, who will surely treasure it for the rest of his life.
