India vs Australia 3rd Test Melbourne: Indian captain Virat Kohli gave his pads to a young Indian fan in the stands after India beat Australia by 137 runs to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series. Now, the Border-Gavaskar trophy has for the very first time been retained in Australian soil. This is also India’s first win at MCG since 1981 and also happens to be their 150th Test win ever, making them the fifth team to do so. An elated Kohli was so happy that he did not think twice before giving his pads to the young fan, who will surely treasure it for the rest of his life.

Twitterverse seems to have loved the gesture by the Indian captain and gave an all heart to it.

Kohli has faced a lot of criticism for his aggressive nature on the field, but such gestures by the Indian captain is bound to earn his love and respect Down Under. 

Meanwhile, Kohli joined former India captain Sourav Ganguly to become the most successful overseas captain for India. Both have led India to 11 overseas Test wins. This was also India’s first win at Melbourne Cricket Ground since 1981. MS Dhoni with six overseas wins to his name is on the second spot.

Now, that the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the bag, Kohli has made it very clear at the post-match press conference that his team will not be lenient at Sydney where the last and the final Test will be played starting in four days time from today.
