India vs Australia 4th Test Sydney: India captain Virat Kohli is on the cusp of equaling another major milestone with a win in Sydney. After ending 2018 on a high, Kohli has the opportunity of starting 2019 on a high with a win in the fourth and final Test. If India manages to win at Sydney, they not only win the Test series 3-1 but Kohli will equal MS Dhoni as the most successful Indian captain in Tests. With the win at Melbourne, Kohli equaled Sourav Ganguly as the most successful overseas captain for India. Now, he has 26 Test wins to his name, whereas Dhoni sits at the top with 27 Test wins. Meanwhile, Kohli has ended 2018 as the No 1 batsman in the world in Tests and ODIs. Team India finished as the No 1 Test side in the world. Kohli has had a phenomenal 2018 where he became the fastest batsman in the world to breach the 10000-run mark and also became the first Indian batsman to slam three consecutive centuries in ODI cricket.
Kohli heaped praise on Bumrah after the emphatic 137-run win at MCG, where he touted Bumrah as the biggest gain of 2018 for India in Test cricket. Bumrah has had a phenomenal year and has been a major reason for India’s success in 2018. He bagged three five-wicket hauls in the year and all of them came outside Asia. In the Melbourne Test, he bagged the Man of the Match for his nine-wicket haul, which included a career-best of six for 33.
“Jasprit Bumrah was good with the white ball he was bowling well and looked hungry and his mindset is what separates him from the rest. He is as strong as anyone I have seen in the past. He has matured quickly and is a good sign. I do Not Want to Face Jasprit Bumrah,” said Kohli praising the new find for India Jasprit Bumrah.
