India vs Australia 4th Test Sydney: Both Indian and Australian players presented Glenn McGrath with their Pink Caps on Day 3 i.e., Pink Day of the ongoing fourth and final Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday. Earlier, on the opening day captain Virat Kohli was seen pink, his gloves, grip, Bat’s logo, everything was pink.
Glenn McGrath, who is also the founder of the McGrath Foundation, raises funds for the McGrath Breast Care Nurses and help increase ‘breast health understanding’, praised Kohli and Co. and said how they won him over.
“One night Virat Kohli came up to me and he said that he had something special for Sydney. I have got my pink ready, it is all pinked up for Sydney,” McGrath said to the broadcasters.
“And then when he walked out to bat and to see the pink on his glove and his pads and his pink bat with the grip, logo all in pink… It was a very special moment,” McGrath added.
Every New Year Test in Australia is the Pink Test and the third day of the match is named ‘Jane McGrath Day’ or the ‘Pink Day’, in honour of McGrath’s wife. The first pink Test was played in 2009 against South Africa and this is the 11th Pink Test being hosted at the SCG.
Meanwhile, India are the driver’s seat on Day 3 as Australia have lost their six wickets so far in the third session. Australia 199/6 ( Peter Handscomb (21* off 54) and Pat Cummins ( 1* off 3).
