New Delhi: Skipper Mitchell Marsh played an impactful knock as Australia beat India by 7-wicket in the rain-interuppted first ODI to take the lead in the three-match series on Sunday at Perth.
Coming to bat first, India managed to scored only 136 after the match was reduced to 26 over-per side game after rain affected for the fourth time, with India struggling at 52 for four in 16.4 overs.
The revised target was 131 under Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, Australia chased the target easily in 21.1 overs, with Marsh 46 not out off 52 deliveries, emerging as the toprun-scorer. Wicketkeeper batter Josh Philippe contibuted a quick 29-ball 37.
Talking about India’s batting Axar Patel (31 off 38 balls) and KL Rahul (38 off 31) played an impactful knock, before debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy’s (19 not out off 11) useful cameo.
