India vs Australia: India captain shared his retirement plans ahead of 1st ODI at SCG. In an interview, Kohli said that by the time he calls it a day, he will be so spent that he would never wish to pick up a cricket bat again. He also spoke about the rigorous schedule that he has which does get taxing at times on the body. He plays all the three formats and is currently the No 1 batsman in ODI and Test cricket. He also said he cannot even comment on the first thing he will do once he retires, but he hinted that a vacation could be on the cards.
Here is the video of what he said when asked about his retirement plans:
Meanwhile, Kohli also spoke about the combination and the team for the 1st ODI. “From the combination and team balance point of view, yes, you’ll have to think about the combination you’ll need now,” Kohli said.
On 2019 Cricket World Cup
Kohli said he is pleased with the current team’s combination and there isn’t too much room for tinkering with this squad in the build-up to the ODI World Cup in England starting May 30.
“The fact we have not many games left before the World Cup and hence we want to play the side that more or less will feature in the World Cup. The exceptional case of Jasprit Bumrah being rested is purely because of the workload in the Test series.
“But apart from that I don’t think combination-wise we are going to look to tinker too much,” he said.
However, Kohli did admit that form and fitness could be decisive for a couple of spots.
