After the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, India and England now square off in the game’s shortest format- T20I. The teams will face each other in a three-match T20I series, starting January 26. Green Park Stadium is the venue for opening T20I.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the pitch at Green Park is expected to be flat one with no signs of grass over it. With flat pitch on offer, one can expect run feast in the first T20I. Interestingly, it will be the first ever T20I played at the venue.
Both the sides will be eyeing to take an early lead in this series. “Both the sides want to start with win in the series so I have crafted such a pitch (within the permissible limit) where the batsmen will have an upper hand,” chief curator Shiv Kumar was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. India drafted spinners Amit Mishra and Parvez Rasool in the T20I squad, giving rest to Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who were initially part of the T20I team.
After the first T20I at Kanpur, the teams will travel to Nagpur and Bengaluru for second and third T20I respectively. India won the five-match Test series 4-0 and then emerged victorious in three-match ODI series 2-1.
