India vs England 2018, Day 5 at Oval: After putting India on course for an improbable victory, centurion Rishabh Pant mishits one which finally brought an end to his magnificent innings against England during the fifth and final Test at the Oval.
Young Pant made amends for his poor glovework with a scintillating hundred which helped the visitors in with a chance to chase a world record target of 464 in the fifth Test. However, while batting on 114 , Pant threw his wicket while playing a wild slog off Adil Rashid’s bowling.

It was wide delivery with a lot of air and revs on it. Pant looks to deposit in into the stands but the bat turns in his hands. As a results, the ball hangs in the air and goes towards Mooen Ali at long off. He stations himself under it and hangs on to it to end Pant’s belligerent innings.

Earlier, Pant’s glovework in England has been under a lot of criticism and many former stumpers believe that the youngster needs to cover a lot of ground before he can be trusted as a Test-level wicket-keeper.
The 20-year-old has conceded an unprecedented 76 byes in six innings in the ongoing Test series against England although at least 20-25 of those runs were not exactly his fault.
After watching him closely, former India ‘keepers Nayan Mongia, Kiran More and Deep Dasgupta believe that the Rourkee youngster is still a “work in progress”.
But at the same time, they want the selectors to have a clear-cut policy on young keepers given that Wriddhiman Saha is unlikely to start playing before another three to four months.
