India vs England 2018 Tests: 20-year-old Rishabh Pant smashed his maiden century against England on the finals day of the final Test at Kennington Oval. Pant combined well with KL Rahul to stitch a 6th wicket partnership of 204. The time till he was at the wicket, he also raised hopes of an India win, which did not happen. But, India’s regular wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha took to Twitter to applaud the young man. His post read, “Congratulations @RishabPant777 for your maiden test 100! Good knock brother!”

Twitter poked fun at Saha on his congratulatory message. Here are the tweets that followed Saha’s post.

Earlier, Pant’s glovework in England has been under a lot of criticism and many former stumpers believe that the youngster needs to cover a lot of ground before he can be trusted as a Test-level wicket-keeper.

The 20-year-old has conceded an unprecedented 76 byes in six innings in the ongoing Test series against England although at least 20-25 of those runs were not exactly his fault.

After watching him closely, former India ‘keepers Nayan Mongia, Kiran More and Deep Dasgupta believe that the Rourkee youngster is still a “work in progress”.

But at the same time, they want the selectors to have a clear-cut policy on young keepers given that Wriddhiman Saha is unlikely to start playing before another three to four months.
