India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Play has ended for the day at Old Trafford, with India reaching 264 for 4 in 83 overs. Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur are both not out on 19 runs each.

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Sudharsan’s dismissal might be the biggest turning point of this session. Whether Rishabh Pant will return to bat is still unclear. Suddenly, the match has slipped away from India’s control. It’s a valuable lesson for the young batter, he did all the hard work, and if he had stayed in, a century looked likely. But that wasn’t to be. Now, with Shardul Thakur at the crease, India must accept that he will play his natural attacking game, not necessarily the situation. There are 13 minutes left in the session, and the new ball is due. It could either change everything for India or cause more damage.

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Sai Sudharsan is out. Ben Stokes bowled a short ball, and though Sudharsan had judged those well all day, this time he mistimed the shot. He tried to pull it but got a top edge, and the catch was taken at square leg. It was a rare loss of focus that cost him his wicket. Now Shardul Thakur has come in to bat, and India are in a bit of trouble. Things seem to be going completely in England’s favor at the moment. Some might be surprised that Thakur came in before Washington Sundar, but it’s likely to break the pattern of left-handers coming in one after another.

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: There are 13 overs left before the second new ball becomes available. Both Rishabh Pant and Sai Sudharsan have handled the situation well so far. After a strong spell earlier in the afternoon, Ben Stokes now finds himself on the back foot again, constantly changing bowlers and adjusting the field to break the partnership. Looking back, one might wonder if Stokes missed a trick by not bringing himself on instead of Brydon Carse after Tea, especially since he was bowling well before the break. That decision could have made a difference in this phase of the game.

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant have now added 50 runs together. It’s been a steady and well-timed partnership. Sudharsan, who looked a bit cautious at first, has started playing more freely and seems much more confident now. Pant, as usual, has been his attacking self. But the job isn’t done yet, the pitch is still good for batting, and India will need a total around 450 in their first innings to be in a strong position. Anything less could leave them with a below-par score. That said, India’s spinners could still play a big role later, especially with rough patches developing outside the left-handers’ off-stump.

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Chris Woakes has been brought back into the attack. He’s been one of the better bowlers this afternoon, looking the most likely to take a wicket after Ben Stokes. With the ball now 62 overs old, it may not offer much movement, but the cloudy skies could still give him a bit of help. He’ll need to focus on landing the ball in the right areas and trying to make the batters play. For much of the day, England’s bowlers have either bowled too full or too short. Only Stokes and Woakes have consistently found that tricky length which makes batters unsure whether to go forward or stay back.

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Jofra Archer hasn’t taken a wicket so far today. He was England’s most effective bowler in the morning, but he didn’t bowl at the stumps often, and the conditions weren’t offering him much help. With several left-handers in India’s batting order, Archer would’ve been eager to make an impact, but things haven’t gone his way. The current pair has spent some time at the crease now, so we might see a bowling change after Tea. If Ben Stokes wants to tempt Pant into taking a risk, he could bring on Liam Dawson, Pant is likely to attack the left-arm spinner if given the chance.

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer have taken the ball for England at the start of this session. With two left-handers batting, Archer’s inclusion makes sense. Carse, though, is a bit of an unexpected choice. He opened the bowling after lunch as well, and while his spell wasn’t outstanding, it was Woakes’ wicket that gave him a boost. This session could be very interesting, especially with Rishabh Pant at the crease, he’s known for playing aggressively and won’t hold back. Whether he scores quickly or gets out could decide which team takes control of this period. Also, the light has dropped noticeably, and there might be some rain on the way.

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: It’s Tea here in Manchester. India lost three wickets in quick time during this session. The most disappointing one was Shubman Gill’s, not because players can’t make mistakes, but because the situation was perfect for him to build a big innings and he missed that chance. In the last half hour, Ben Stokes really stepped up his game and bowled brilliantly. It’s been a strong session for England; they’ve definitely fought their way back. We’ll return after the Tea break, stay tuned!

India vs England 2025 4th Test, Day 1 LIVE Scores and Updates: That was a poor decision by Shubman Gill to leave the ball. It was more of a misjudgment than anything else. He expected the ball to move away, which can happen with Stokes’ bowling style, but he should have played it. Instead, it hit his pads and looked clearly out. The decision was reviewed, and the replays confirmed it was hitting. Just an over earlier, a catch was dropped off Stokes’ bowling, but now he finally gets a wicket. After a great start to the series, Gill has now fallen cheaply for the third time in a row. The weather has turned a bit dull, and Rishabh Pant is now at the crease. Stokes has suddenly found his rhythm out of nowhere.
