Resuming at an overnight score of 146 for one, India lost Cheteshwar Pujara early on in the morning. Looking to leave a delivery from Jake Ball, Pujara was bowled without adding anything to his overnight tally.

Pujara’s dismissal then brought Kohli at the crease. Vijay and Kohli did not hold back and played their shots at will. The duo notched a century partnership for the third wicket and in the process, Vijay, who started the day on 70, reached the three-figure mark. It was Vijay’s 8th Test century. Also Check- India vs England 4th Test Day 3- As it Happened

After the lunch break, Vijay (124) was dismissed while trying to hit over the bowler. He was caught and bowled by Adil Rashid. At fall of Vijay’s wicket, India were 262 for three. Few overs later, England managed to remove Karun Nair (13), who was adjudged leg before wicket after visitors opted for a DRS (Decision Review System).

The tourists further tightened grip over India as Joe Root scalped two wickets in quick succession. The part-timer removed Parthiv Patel (15) and Ravi Ashwin (0) in his consecutive overs. The twin strikes by Root left India at 307 for six.

Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja then led the Indian counterattack and shared a half-century partnership that gave hosts the much-needed impetus. The duo added 57 runs for the seventh wicket before Rashid accounted for Jadeja’s wicket. The left-hander scored 25 runs.

With India seven down, Kohli then went on to register his 15th Test century and took his team close to England’s total. The home side eventually gained the lead and at the close of play were in a strong position.

Spinners, Moeen Ali and Rashid did the bulk of bowling and now have two wickets each against their name. Root too picked two wickets while fast bowler Ball chipped in with a wicket.
