India vs England 5th Test Kenington Oval: Alastair Cook in the last innings of his career scored his 33rd Test century and it came against the same opposition against whom he scored his maiden hundred in his debut innings. Twitter celebrated Cook’s ton as they took to Twitter to lavish praise. During his innings, he also pipped Kumar Sangakkara to become the fifth highest run-scorer in Test history and the highest run-getter as a left-hander.

Here is what the social sphere had to say.

Earlier in the first innings, Cook got a brilliant 71 but could not convert it into a three-figure score. This time he left nothing to chance as he played a chanceless knock to hit a ton in his farewell Test.

Meanwhile, Alastair Cook becomes only the second Test player in the world to score a fifty in his debut Test innings and his last innings. It was a trademark tuck off his hips to reach his 58th Test century. Cook now joins former South African cricketer Bruce Mitchell to this feat. Cook had hit a century in his first Test against India and now in his final Test, he scored a brilliant 71 in the first innings and his unbeaten on 50+ in the second innings.
