India vs England 5th Test Statistical Highlights: James Anderson took the final wicket of Mohammed Shami to not only win the Kennington Test, but he also went past former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath.

The 33-year-old bowler claimed his 564th wicket, surpassing the record of Australia’s Glenn McGrath. He picked up the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara last night to equal the Australian great. The wicket sealed England’s 4-1 victory over India in the recently concluded five-match Test series. Glenn McGrath’s 563rd Test wicket was James Anderson and at that time, Anderson had only 46 wickets in his career and now after 4267 days, Anderson has gone past McGrath to become the highest wicket-taker among pacers in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, Kohli scored 593 runs in the series and was the lead run-getter for India by far. Cook made this Test memorable by notching up his 33rd ton in his farewell Test. Joe Root, who had not had the best of series, came good in the final Test as he slammed his 14th Test century. For India, the silver lining was debutant Hanuma Vihari who got 56 in his first innings and also picked three wickets.

India had their opportunities early on in the series, when they came close at Edgbaston, but fell 31 runs short and then at Southampton, where India lost by 60 runs. India now take on West Indies in a few days time in India.
