India ended day three with a lead of 51 runs and on penultimate day the hosts will be looking to stretch their lead. Captain Virat Kohli will resume on 147 and double century will be in his sight. If he gets it, it will be third for him this year. Kohli on day three was involved in an unbeaten 87-run stand with Jayant Yadav, and the duo will be hoping to continue their good show on day four. On day three, Murali Vijay and Kohli stole the show. While Vijay notched his career’s eighth century, his captain, Kohli, recorded his 15th in Tests. Overall home side scored 305 runs on day three for the loss of six wickets and at stumps were 451 for seven. To sum it up, it was a day that belonged to hosts.
With three wickets in hand and Kohli still out there one expects India to take a lead of over hundred runs. Anything less than hundred will be a bonus for the visitors. For now, India are in the driving seat with a valuable lead, which is expected to get bigger, under their belt. England will have to bat and bowl well to pull off a win in this Test. How England bat in their second innings will very much decide the course of the game. But as of now, the tourists will be looking to pick remaining three Indian wickets as soon as possible.
