Rohit Sharma (97) and Shikhar Dhawan (74) starred with the bat as India crushed Ireland by 76 runs in the 1st T20I. Rohit Sharma missed out on his 3rd T20I century but more importantly he looked in ominous form, which is great news for the Indian team as they head in to the England tour.

But what stole the show was the Indian openers and their partnership of 160 runs. Dhawan and Rohit broke a lot of records with their knock at Dublin and are now in line to break many more records. The duo are now just second to David Warner and Shane Watson in terms of runs as a pair and are the only two pairs to have amassed in excess of 1000 runs in T20Is.

Dhawan also became the 6th Indian to score 6000 T20 runs, which is no mean feat.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan’s pair becomes the first pair to add two 150-plus stands in T20Is.

Rohit also became the 13th player to score 10,000-plus runs for India in international cricket.

Dhawan-Rohit’s 160 was also the second highest stand for India in T20Is. KL Rahul-Rohit Sharma’s 165 is the highest.

India is now joint with Australia in terms of most 200+ totals in T20I cricket with 10. Only South Africa with 11 are ahead of India.

With another T20I to go, many more records are in line to be broken.
