New Delhi: The highly anticipated clash between India W and Pakistan W was interrupted in the first innings at the R. Premadasa Stadium due to swarms of moths and flies on the pitch. The players had been struggling with the insects for some time but had little solution to deal with them

Meanwhile, the match was paused after the 34th over as a ground staff member had to enter the field to clear the flies through a pest control spray. Players left the field while play was halted for around 15 minutes. At the time, India were comfortably placed at 154/4 in 34 overs, with Mumbai batter Jemimah Rodrigues unbeaten on 28 from 33 balls and all-rounder Deepti Sharma on 2.

No overs will be lost

In the ongoing tournament, games have experienced short rain delays, but this marks the first time a match was halted because of pest control spray.

According to Cricbuzz, No overs will be lost, and innings break will be taken for a brief period to make up for the lost time.

India Women’s first innings summary

After the match resumed, India lost the most crucial wicket of Jemimah Rodrigues who scored 32 off 37 deliveries.

Indian team management and fans had high expectations from world No. 1 ODI batter Smriti Mandhana in the ongoing clash against Pakistan, but sheb failed to deliver as she scored 23 runs off 32 balls. She added 48 runs in a nine-over opening partnership with Pratika Rawal, who scored 31 runs from 37 deliveries, which included four boundaries.

Harleen Deol played an impressive knock of 46 runs, falling just four run short of a half-century. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur looked well-settled at the crease but was dismissed by Diana Baig
