Team India will be aiming for their 7th consecutive bilateral T20I series win when they begin a five-match series against South Africa at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday. Indian are coming into this series with 2-1 series win in the ODI matches after the Proteas had humbled the home team 2-0 in the Test series.
Suryakumar Yadav and Aiden Markram will be the two captains in charge in the series with both sides making a number of changes of their playing 11. Indian T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill has been declared fit and should be available to play in the opening game after recovering from a neck injury.
Indians will be boosted by the return of all-rounder Hardik Pandya to fitness as well with just a couple of months to go for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. Hardik is expected to play ahead of pacer Arshdeep Singh and share the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah.
Shivam Dube and Axar Patel will be the other all-rounders in the Indian line-up. There might be some disappointment for the fans of Sanju Samson as Jitesh Sharma is likely to continue in his role as first-choice wicketkeeper which he took up in the T20I series against Australia.
For South Africa, batter Tony de Zorzi is set to miss out due to injury and is likely to be replaced Reeza Hendricks while pace spearhead Anrich Nortje is finally set to return to the line-up after a long layoff due to injury.
In the middle-order, young Dewald Brevis will be joined by Delhi Capitals batter Tristan Stubbs.
