KL Rahul’s Team India will be up against South Africa in a ‘winner-takes-all’ contest in the third and final ODI of the series at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. The series is currently level at 1-1 with Team India winning the first match in Ranchi by 17 runs and the Proteas bouncing back to clinch the second one by four wickets, chasing down 359 to win at Raipur this week.
Former India captain Virat Kohli has been in sublime form with the bat with back-to-back centuries for the 11th time in his ODI career. Kohli is the leading run-getter in the series with 237 runs in 2 matches with record 53 centuries in ODI cricket now.
Kohli will be heading to one of his most profitable venues in India – Visakhapatnam – where he has scored 587 runs in 7 innings at an average of over 97 with a best of 157 not out against West Indies back in 2018.
Team India also have a successful record in Visakhapatnam with 7 wins in 10 matches but lost their last match here to Australia back in 2023. India’s biggest areas of concern will be their bowling attack which failed to defend massive scores due to excessive dew in Ranchi and Raipur.
Indians have not won the toss in their last 20 matches under captains Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and now KL Rahul. It will be interesting to see if India decide to bring in someone like Nitish Kumar Reddy to replace Prasidh Krishna, who has been very expensive with the ball.
