India vs South Africa 2nd Test: Here’s Why Odds Are in Favour of The Proteas to Win Centurion Test
Out of the 22 Test matches held at this venue, South Africa have registered the victory in 17 Tests.
New Delhi: After facing defeat in the first Test against South Africa, India may lose the three-match series as well by getting trounced in the second Test being played in Centurion. Stats show that the Supersport Park in Centurion has been one of the happy hunting grounds for the Proteas.
Out of the 22 Test matches held at this venue, South Africa have registered the victory in 17 Tests, losing two and the remaining three ending in a draw.
India, who have been set a target of 287 runs, would find it tough to chase down the target as the highest fourth-innings score at Centurion is 251-8 by England in 2000, while 226-4 and 199-3 by South Africa are 2nd and 3rd on the list.
Till date, only England and Australia have managed to win a Test at Centurion, while India, who have played only one Test at the Supersport Park in 2010, lost it by an innings and 25 runs.
The only good memory that India have of this venue is Sachin Tendulkar bringing up his 50th Test century on this ground while scoring 111 unbeaten in the second innings of the match.
Even the highest score on this ground belongs to South Africa when they scored 620/4 against India, who in response scored 459 in the second innings to register the highest score by any visiting team.
