India vs South Africa 3rd Test Day 2 Live Cricket Score Updates: India 49/1 at Stumps, Lead by 42 Runs

India wrapped up the Day 2 of the third Test against South Africa on a high note. After bundling out the African lions for a paltry 197, the Indian side was 49 for the loss of one wicket. India was leading South Africa by 42 runs.

After Parthiv Patel departed, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul steadied Indian ship. Both the batsmen are concentrating on building a partnership.

India was 21 for the loss one wicket. KL Rahul and Murali Vijay were on the crease. South African pacers Rabada and Philander were troubling Indian batsmen with their pace and bounce. Indians are living dangerously.

Parthiv Patel Departs 

After a nervous start, Indian batsmen got a foothold on their crease. Parthiv Patel played a few shots before getting out on 16 runs. India was 18 for 1, and was leading by 11 runs.

India Off to Nervous Start 

Team India started their second innings after getting the South Africans out for 194. The Indians were trailing by 7 runs. The pace, bounce and movement of the South African bowlers made Indian openers a tad uncomfortable as Parthiv Patel nicked a few, but away from the grasp of slip fielders. India was 4 for no loss.

That’s it, South Africa have been bowled out for 194. They have taken a significant lead of seven runs. Meanwhile, Bumrah has taken a five-wicket haul.

Bumrah gets rid of Amla

Big wicket this for India. Well set Amla departs, he is caught near deep mid-wicket. Can India clean South Africa’s tail. SA 175/8.

Amla going strong

It’s tea time at the Johannesburg. Hashim Amla is going strong as South Africa trail by 44 runs with four wickets in hand. Interesting session of play coming up. India will look to pick the remaining wickets as quickly as possible while the hosts will look to build on and go past 187-run mark.

Bumrah removes De Kock

South Africa have now lost sixth wicket. De Kock gets an inside edge and Parthiv Patel takes the catch. South Africa are in little trouble. However, Hashim Amla is still out there and has completed his 37th Test fifty.

Hosts 5 down

Bumrah gets rid of Faf du Plessis. He has bowled him, that one came in and brushed batsman’s pads before going on to hit the stumps. South Africa have now lost half the side. India back in the game! SA 107/5.

Bhuvi picks third wicket

Bhuvneshwar is the one Indian bowler who has been most impressive on this tour so far. and he proves it yet by castling AB de Villiers. Superb delivery that, came back in, AB was looking for an on-drive but is undone by the movement. SA 92/4.

Lunch, Day 2

So at lunch on day two South Africa trail by 106 runs with seven wickets in hand. Indian bowlers did a decent job, but Rabada and Amla were equally good. The visitors will be hoping to restrict Proteas to a paltry score. Interesting session coming up, do join us back. SA 81/3.

Rabada departs after resistive knock

That’s end of Rabada’s innings. he was sent in as a night-watchman and did a commendable job. Ishant Sharma has him caught near the gully region. SA 80/3.

Bhuvi removes Elgar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is amongst wickets once again. Good low catch by Parthiv Patel, Dean Elgar is caught behind. So, India off to a good start. SA 16/2.

Build-up: India were bowled out for 187 in their first innings on Day one of the third Test. The South African pacers came on top of the visitors on this seamer-friendly wicket. The bowlers troubled the Indian batsmen right from the outset as they sent back Lokesh Rahul and Murali Vijay in quick succession. 

A half-century by Virat Kohli (54) and a patient defensive fifty by Cheteshwar Pujara helped India withstand a fast bowling barrage on the first day of the third and final Test against South Africa on Wednesday. Apart from Pujara and Kohli, Bhuvnesh Kumar (30) was the only batsman to reach double digits.

Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers took three wickets for 39 runs while Morne Morkel, Vernon Philander and Andile Phehlukwayo got two wickets each.
