South Africa beat India in the first Twenty20 International match at Dharamsala. You can watch the highlights of India vs South Africa 1st T20I here. Rohit Sharma gave India off to a blistering start with his maiden century to thrust India ahead after an early wicket due to a misfield followed by a misunderstanding between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. India managed to keep their own with Rohit Sharma’s century and Virat Kohli scoring 43 runs.

India put up a respectable total of 199 runs on the score board though with hindsight 15-20 runs would have made a lot of difference. The mix up between Shikhar Dhawan for an extra run may have cost them an early partnership and a lot of more runs. Virat Kohli did come in to replace Dhawan and without wasting time got to scoring and knocking the ball around to keep the strike rotating so that the set batsman, Rohit Sharma could get more time on strike while Kohli settled and started hitting the bigger shots.

JP Duminy was the obstacle that India failed to overcome to win the match. Duminy’s brilliant knock of 68 runs not out in just 34 deliveries hurt India. South Africa also had an amazing start with Hashim Amla scoring 36 runs in 24 balls and AB D=de Villiers scored 51 runs in just 32 balls. JP Duminy and Farhaan Behardien, who scored 32 runs not out in 23 balls had to nurse the innings to victory and they did it with two deliveries to spare. South Africa have drawn first blood but there are two more T20 International matches left along with the Test Series. The next T20I match will be held in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on October 5th, 2015 and the match will start at 7 pm (1900 hours) IST.
