Highlights of IND vs SA 3rd Test Day 3

India defeated South Africa by 124 runs in the third Test at Nagpur. Chasing a daunting target of 310, the visiting side was bowled out for 185 in their second innings. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin registered his career best figures of 66/7 to derail South Africa. With this win India seal the four-match series with one Test to go. This win also happens to be Virat Kohli’s first Test series win as captain on home soil. After the fall of these two wickets, Captain Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis fought back with resistance took their team to lunch without losing further wickets. The duo batted with intent and curbed their stroke making abilities.

 After the lunch break leg spinner Amit Mishra struck in quick succession to scalp big wickets of Amla and du Plessis, who shared a partnership of 72 runs for the fifth wicket. The dismissal of these two batsmen brought the downfall of South African innings.

Mishra’s blow left South Africa tottering at 135 for six and then Ashwin inflicted further damage by picking all the remaining four wickets to take his match tally to 12.

With series in India’s pocket both teams now travel to Delhi for the fourth and final Test at Feroz Shah Kotla from December 3-7.
