India vs West Indies 1st ODI: Oshane Thomas playing his debut picked up his maiden wicket in the very first over of Shikhar Dhawan and he got overexcited. Thomas unable to keep a lid over his emotions slapped wicketkeeper Shai Hope on his face while attempting a high-five. He later apologised to his teammate.
Here is how Dhawan was dismissed.
Thomas troubled Dhawan throughout the over and finally, the shortest ball of the over led to the southpaw’s downfall. Dhawan looked to cut the ball on the off-side, he only managed to chop the ball on to his stumps. India was on 10 when the Men in Blue lost their first wicket. But after the loss of that wicket, Rohit and Virat have steadied the ship and India are 42/1 in 6.2 overs.
Earlier in the day, Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to field first. The Windies got off to a decent start but then wickets started falling. The touring Windies was reduced to 122/4 and it seemed they would crumble, but Hetmyer got support from Hope, Powell and Holder to help Windies post a daunting 323 for India to chase.
