India vs West Indies 1st T20I Kolkata: It is a well-known fact that Gautam Gambhir takes strong stands on political issues and backs the needy. His latest tweet slams Cricket Association of Bengal for allowing former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin to ring the bell at Eden Gardens ahead of the 1st T20I against Windies. Gambhir questions the zero-tolerance policy adopted by the CoA and BCCI. His tweet read, ” India may have won today at Eden but I am sorry BCCI, CoA & CAB lost. Looks like the No Tolerance Policy against Corrupt takes a leave on Sundays! I know he was allowed to contest HCA polls but then this is shocking. The bell is ringing, hope the powers that be are listening.”

Azharuddin was banned from playing International cricket after his alleged involvement in spot-fixing all those years ago.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik (31*) and debutant Krunal Pandya held their nerve to take India home comfortably after an early stutter against Windies in the first T20I at the iconic Eden Gardens. Chasing a slim target of 110 to win, the men in blue didn’t had the best of the starts as they lose their star batsmen – captain Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan cheaply, courtesy some terrific pace bowling from young Oshane Thomas. Earlier, wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav produced another brilliant performance with the ball as he picked up a three-for to restrict Windies 109/8 in 20 overs. Kuldeep led the Indian bowlers’ fine show to restrict West Indies to 109 for eight after stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma opted to field on a dew-laden Eden Gardens.
