India vs West Indies 3rd T20I Chennai: Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of yet another T20I record. If India wins in Chennai and blanks Windies 3-0, Rohit will become the only Indian captain to have led India to two 3-0 whitewashes in T20I cricket (Previous: 2016 3-0 against Zimbabwe), a feat even Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni have not achieved as captain of India. He will become the 3rd captain to do so after Asghar Afghan (3 series wins) and Sarfraz Ahmed (5 series wins). Kohli and MS Dhoni have led India to a solitary 3-0 whitewash in T20I cricket.
Rohit is also on the cusp of overtaking Martin Guptill to become the all-time leading run-getter in 20I history. He is 69 runs away from that feat and given his current form no one can rule it out. Earlier, by smashing a 111 in the 2nd T20I Rohit became the only cricketer to register four centuries in the shortest format. Now, he will have an opportunity to go past Guptill. Given his recent form, it is highly possible that he gets that.
Rohit is also the top run-getter of the series with 117 runs in 2 matches at an average of 117 and a strike rate of 174.63. Dhawan is second in the list 46 runs in 2 matches at an average of 23 and a strike rate of 93.88.

When Rohit started out in this series he was at the fifth spot with 2086 runs to his name. If Rohit does become the highest run-getter in T20I cricket, it will be the first time that an Indian will be on top of the tree, in terms of runs scored, across all three international formats.
Sachin Tendulkar has been sitting at the top in the all-time highest run-getters list in Tests and in ODI cricket and with Rohit Sharma reaching there it will be great.
