India vs West Indies 5th ODI Thiruvananthapuram: Ahead of the fifth ODI, Ravi Shastri, Shikhar Dhawan, and Umesh Yadav were spotted at the 16th century Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The cricketers were there to take blessings ahead of the final ODI. The cricketers also obliged fans by clicking selfies. This was not the first time Shastri paid a visit to the temple. In fact, last time India played a match at this venue against New Zealand, Ravi Shastri had paid a visit to the iconic temple. India had won that T20I match by 6 runs to clinch the three-match T20I series.
One Day Cricket returns to Thiruvananthapuram after 30 years and coincidentally the last time an ODI was played at this venue, it was against the same opposition.
Meanwhile, captain Virat Kohli urged fans to pay a visit to Kerala as he found it a wonderful city to be in.
“Being in Kerala is nothing short of bliss. I love coming here and love the energy of the whole place. The beauty of Kerala is something to be experienced and I would recommend to everyone that they come here and experience the energy of God’s Own Country. Kerala is surely back to its feet and absolutely safe to come to. Thanks to this amazing place for making me feel happy every time I am here,” Kohli wrote in a note while at his stay with The Leela Raviz Kovalam.
Meanwhile, Kohli has been ominous form. He recently became the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs and also became the first Indian to slam three consecutive ODI tons.
India will be looking for a victory too on Thursday as Virat Kohli & Co. would want to clinch their 6th straight bilateral ODI series win at home. They lead the series 2-1, with the second match being tied.
