Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been in tremendous form in the recent times. Currently, he is standing at the number one spot in the ICC ODI Rankings for bowlers with 797 rating points. Bumrah, along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar forming one of the deadliest pairs of fast bowlers in contemporary times, has been rested for the two-Test series against West Indies which begins in Rajkot from October 4.

However, he is sure to be included in the five-match ODI series which will follow the Test series. And in that series, Bumrah will an opportunity to break a unique Indian record. During the ODI series, Bumrah will have the chance to surpass his previous best count of 821 rating points and break a 30-year-old Indian record held by former off-spinner Maninder Singh.

In 1988, Maninder had reached a rating-point mark of 851, the best by any Indian till date. Before that in 1986, the veteran off-spinner had broken World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev’s record of 845 rating points.

Bumrah was in imperious form in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2018 in UAE. In the four matches he played, Bumrah scalped eight wickets. Such was his control that he didn’t even concede a single boundary in nine overs he bowled at the death.
