India captain Harmanpreet Kaur says, “Happy that we have qualified for te semis. There are still a few things that we need to sit down and talk about. It is a short format. Sometimes your main bowler might not have a great day and that is why Jemmy and me bowled. We need to improve on our batting and bowling also. We did not bat according to our plan and the same with our bowling. We have to be aggressive all the time if you have to win against Australia.”

Mithali Raj, ‘Player of the Match’ says, “I’m sure it will get better (the knee injury) and be prepared for the next game. The wicket was quite challenging. It was slow and soft. My partnership with Smriti was very crucial. Hopefully we will get a better wicket in the next game. When someone is going through a lean patch it’s important to remain positive, I’m sure she (Smriti) will get better with every game. This team has definitely improved a lot from the last World Cup. A lot of young girls in the team and they want to change the approach in T20s, and I definitely want them to win the World Cup. You are prepared for 2-3 shots for one delivery and you try and innovate your game to suit the format, you only need to clear the infield in the powerplay to get boundaries and it’s something I’ve worked on and I’m sure that I’ll keep scoring runs for India.”

INDW vs IREW, World T20 Live Updates: Indian bowlers and fielders put up a brilliant show and made up what the batsmen missed. They were bang on with their plans and despite not bowling their opponents out, they constricted them to 93. The spinners did the bulk of the work and ensured Ireland never stood a chance even to give India a minor scare. But while India batted, they definitely huffed and puffed a lot. Mithali and Mandhana were amongst the runs but the final hurrah never arrived.

INDW vs IREW, World T20 Live Updates: OUT! Radha Yadav removes Kim Garth for 3. There seems to be some confusion. The Indian keeper – Tanya Bhatia might just have collected the ball in front of the sticks in her bid to remove the bails. Her gloves might have removed the bails but then the side on replays come on and it has been given out bowled. The batter danced out, got beaten in the flight and the ball did enough to beat the outer edge and clip the sticks. Ireland Women 90/6 in 18.4 overs vs India Women (145/6)

India vs Ireland, 13th Match, ICC Women’s World T20 2018, Highlights: Indian spinners produced yet another controlled performance to clinch a semi-final berth with a comfortable 52-run victory against Ireland in a group league encounter of the ICC Women’s World T20 on Thursday. After managing 145 for 6 on a slow track, Indian spinners maintained tight leash on Irish women restricting them to 93 for 8 in 20 overs.

With their third win, India with six points were assured of a last-four spot along with Australia (6 points from 3 games) with New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland already even before their campaign could officially end.

While India’s batting performance leaving a lot to be desired, the spinners Radha Yadav (3/25 in 4 overs), Deepti Sharma (2/15 in 3 overs), Poonam Yadav (1/14 in 4 overs) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (1/10 in 4 overs) were economical as well picked wickets at regular intervals.

India’s strategy of packing off-side cordon and bowling wide of stumps, paid off as Ireland were never in the chase conceding as many as 65 dot balls (nearly 11 overs). Once Deepti got rid of Gaby Lewis (9) with a classical off-break and Poonam’s loopy leg-break saw the end of Clare Shillington (23) stumped by Taniya Bhatia, Ireland had no chance whatsoever.

Earlier, riding on a painstaking half-century from former skipper Mithali Raj, India managed only 145 for six after being put into bat. (Read Full Preview – India vs Ireland)
