The Indian women cricket team will look to sign off on a winning note from the years 2025 by completing a rare 5-0 T20I series whitewash against Sri Lanka as the two sides face off in the fifth and final game of the series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. The Indian are 4-0 up in the series after their massive 30-run win in the fourth game at the same venue last week.
Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana became the second Indian batter to complete 10000 runs in international and the fastest to reach this landmark in the fourth T20I. Harmanpreet Kaur’s side will be aiming to complete their third 5-0 whitewash after winning with this same margin against West Indies in 2019 and against Bangladesh in 2024.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have never lost by a 5-0 margin in T20I cricket in their history although they have played in five-match T20I series only thrice.
Meanwhile, Indian opener Mandhana will be aiming to score at least 62 more runs on Tuesday to surpass Shubman Gill as the leading run-scoring Indian in 2025 across all three formats. While Mandhana has managed to score 1703 runs, Gill has ended 2025 with 1764 runs.
For the home team, batter Jemimah Rodrigues should be fit to return to side after missing the fourth game due to a mild fever. Harleen Deol had come in the playing 11 in place of Rodrigues. It will be interesting to see if Indians hand a debut to reserve wicketkeeper G. Kamalini with the series already in their bag.
