Indian Premier League 2018: Ace off-spinner Harbhajan Singh expressed his joy after being retained by Chennai Super Kings franchise in the most unique way possible. He took to Twitter and tweeted in the Tamil language, the commonly used language in Tamil Nadu. CSK managed to retain their old core, which most of the franchises were looking to do. Meanwhile, reigning IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Wednesday announced it has retained 22 players for the 2019 season, releasing only three members from the title-winning squad.

CSK had retained skipper MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja prior to the 2018 auction and also used the Right to Match card for Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis.

CSK has a purse of Rs 8.5 crore (Rs 6.5 crore left from the last season and an additional Rs 2 crore made available to the players this season) heading into the auction.

Franchises were required to inform the IPL Governing Council by November 15 about their retentions and release of players for the 2019 player auction to be held next month in Jaipur on December 17-18.
