Indian Premier League 2019: Gautam Gambhir shocked one and all when he decided to throw in the towel after 15 years of playing cricket, it instantly sent his fans into disbelief. But, in a video he posted recently, he talks of what he desires to be in his next life and we are not surprised that he wants to be a cricketer as he loves playing cricket. The 37-year old also wished he could be a batsman as well as a bowler in his next birth. He also talks about the camaraderie among teammates and how he cherishes all of that. Gambhir last played for India in 2016 and has been a part of two World Cup-winning teams for India — 2007 inaugural World T20 and 2011 Cricket World Cup. His contribution to the country can never be compared. Gautam in his video post wrote, “Cricket in my next life too but with a rider. Wanna open the batting and bowling too.”

Making the announcement, the 37-year-old, who represented India in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is, had said, “The most difficult decisions are often taken with the heaviest of hearts. And with one heavy heart, I’ve decided to make an announcement that I’ve dreaded all my life.”

The Delhi-born batsman has not been in the reckoning for the Indian team for a long time now but has been successful in IPL as well where he led Kolkata Knight Riders to a win on two occasions.
