Indian Premier League 2019: Bollywood actor and Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan had a special advise for Gautam Gambhir after the cricketer announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The witty actor wished him all the best for his career ahead and also wished Allah will always keep him happy. But he also asked him to be a little more jovial and smile more often. The actor took to Twitter and his message read, “@GautamGambhir Thank u for the love & leadership my Captain.U r a special man and may Allah always keep & happy…& u should smile a bit more.”
In his video announcing retirement, Gambhir admitted that will miss the game but knew it deep within last year after he stepped aside as Daredevils captain that his time was up.
“The thing that I will miss the most is the camaraderie of an Indian team’s dressing room. It was a wonderful place to be in. Yes, there are pressures of international sport but then when you have team-mates like I had these pressures look elementary. I learnt heaps from each one of them. I will miss all of that and more. Thank you guys, you all will be my one, big family,” he said.
The southpaw has represented Team India in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is, managing to score more than 10000 runs in international cricket.
Gambhir will be playing his last game as a professional cricketer when he steps onto the pitch for Delhi in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Delhi will be up against Andhra Pradesh, with the match starting on December 6 at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.
