Indian Premier League 2019: Royals Challengers Bangalore gave a stylish exit to Mandeep Singh as the cricketer was swapped with King XI Punjab’s Marcus Stoinis. RCB Twitter handle posted a goodbye message for the cricketer which was quite Bollywood in nature. The post tread, ” @mandeeps12 tussi jaa rahe ho… tussi na jao #PlayBold forever.” Also Read - Rajasthan Royals Co-Owner Expects 'Shortened' IPL Season This Year
It happens to be an iconic dialogue from Karan Johar’s landmark film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. Earlier, Mandeep was brought onboard by the RCB scouts for a whopping Rs 1.4 Cr, but the top-order batsman could not live up to the billing as he could muster 252 runs in 14 outings at a mediocre average of 25. His strike-rate of 135.48, however, was impressive. If one remembers, Kings XI Punjab and RCB went at loggerheads over Mandeep Singh during auctions.
Also, what did not work in favour of Mandeep was that he was shuffled in the batting order too often. Apart from a couple of good knocks, he did not do anything of high significance.
Earlier, Ashish Nehra, current bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has been confirmed as coach and will be part of the coaching leadership team along with Gary Kirsten. The former India pacer had joined RCB last season as the bowling consultant.
“I had the privilege to join the coaching team of RCB last season and feel very passionately about the team. I want to thank the team management for considering me in a leadership position with the franchise and look forward for the successful seasons ahead,” the 39-year old said.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians released Akila Dananjaya and Mustafizur Rahman. There are also talks that Dhawan is all-set to join a new franchise after he apparently had a tiff with SunRisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody on selection issues.
