New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu met the Women in Blue at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday, where team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur gifted her a team jersey signed by all the players. India secured their maiden World Cup title after defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, a historic moment for the sport in a cricket-loving nation.
President Murmu showered praise on the team for their historic feat, stating that the players had not only made history but also emerged as inspiring role models for the next generation.
“Members of the Indian Women Cricket team, winner of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. During the meeting, Kaur also presented the World Cup trophy to the President. Earlier on Wednesday, the team met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
