India's T20 World Cup winner Joginder Sharma is now a cop!

Right-arm fast-medium bowler, Joginder Sharma, was an unknown commodity in the Indian cricket. Pakistan needed 13 off last over with just one wicket remaining and, MS Dhoni handed Joginder the ball. The bowler was playing only his fourth T20I for India, and Dhoni had other option, experienced Harbhajan Singh, available as well.

As luck would have it, Joginder after being hit for a six had Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s last hope, caught near fine leg region. And with that, India were crowned T20 Champions. That was the flashback, fast forward and that very Joginder Sharma is now a Deputy Commissioner Of Police in Haryana.

Post his heroics in the World T20; Joginder was offered a job of Deputy Superintendent of Police, which he apparently accepted. He now holds, according to various reports, the rank of Deputy Commissioner (DCP).

Interestingly, World T20 2007 final was the last time we saw Joginder in Team India colours. He did play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for suspended Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Joginder chose to retire from first-class cricket last year. He has featured for India in four One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and in an equal number of T20Is.
