India’s Tour of Australia: Young Prithvi Shaw was spotted practicing with former batting legend Sachin Tendulkar ahead of the crucial Australia series. Shaw was doing all of this in the maidaans of Mumbai where Tendulkar has set up his academy to hunt talent.

In the 95 seconds video, you can see Shaw is hitting balls in the nets while Sachin has his eyes on him from where the umpire would stand. In the past, parallels have been drawn between the two as they come from the same state and are both short in height and early starters.

It is good consistent performances that have ensured Shaw makes it to the Australia squad. He turned 19 today. The young Turk recently missed Mumbai’s opening Ranji Trophy match against Railways because of an injury he suffered during the Deodhar Trophy.

He will be there for the New Zealand tour as a part of India A under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane before they join the other Indian team members in Australia.

Speaking to DNA, Prashant Shetty, Shaw’s MIG Academy’s coach disclosed that Shaw has been training at the MIG Academy since Monday and he was lucky to have Tendulkar with him on one of those training days.

“He trained with wet rubber balls in the artificial tarpaulin laid on the cement pitch in the centre of the MIG ground. Tendulkar and Jagdish Chavan and bowled to him. As he was batting, he had the master watching him and giving him the required tips in order to prepare him for the Australia tour,” he said.
