He played a pivotal role in saving the first Test as his unbeaten 120-run knock including a gritty partnership with Kusal Mendis helped Sri Lanka to end the match in a draw. It’s a big blow for Sri Lanka ahead of the ODIs and upcoming Australia tour.

Over the last two years, Mathews has been prone to injuries and four weeks is slight a less time for him to recover.
