On the occasion of International Yoga Day and to show their support to the Indian national cricket team, school children performed Yoga to form the cricket World Cup trophy in Chennai. The children performed various postures of yoga, in front of the national flag, in the formation of the World Cup trophy on a school playground.
ICC, from their official twitter handle of World Cup, posted the picture of the children. The tweet read, “Incredible commitment levels to #TeamIndia and International Yoga Day from these school children in Chennai, India.”
The theme of 5th International Yoga Day 2019 is “Climate Action”. The first International Day of Yoga was observed all over the world on June 21, 2015, when over 30,000 people including Prime Minister Modi performed yoga at the Rajpath in New Delhi. The idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Prime Minister Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27 September 2014.
Team India have been at the middle of a phenomenal run in the ICC World Cup 2019 and have remained unbeaten so far. However, having seen one of their games washed out, Virat kohli & Co. stand at the fourth position in the points with fair amounts of matches still left to be played. Considered strong favourites, the Men in Blue will next face Afghanistan on June 22 in Southampton.
Meanwhile, the team have been scared by few injury issues. Opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the showpiece event, while pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is also undergoing treatment for an injury in the hamstring. Also, it was learnt that all-rounder Vijay Shankar has also suffered an injury on his toe after being hit by a Jasprit Bumrah-yorker in the nets.
