Indian batting legend Rahul Dravid has been chosen as the mentor of the Delhi Daredevils side in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Paddy Upton has been signed up as the coach as the franchise continue their revamp heading into the ninth edition of the tournament. Dravid comes back after an immensely successful outing with the India U-19 side, who reached the finals of the tournament before falling short to the West Indies.

Dravid is seen as one of the most influencing figures in mentoring youngsters. The number of players that came up during his time with Rajasthan Royals bears testament to the Wall. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Shane Watson, KL Rahul and Sanju Samson have singled out the former Indian skipper for their success. The current Delhi side are a delightful mix of youth and experience. JP Duminy is retained as the team captain.

This will reunite Royals’ successful duo. Dravid and Upton have complimented each other well in the past and the Jaipur-based outfit did extremely well during their time. This will be a new challenge in itself with more established players in the dugout. There will be two new sides in the IPL this time – Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat lions skippered by MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina respectively.
