Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) batsman Manoj Tiwary smashed crucial 27 runs off 19 balls towards the end and helped his side post a decent target against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Tiwary’s late onslaught proved helpful as RPS won the game by 27 runs. The right-handed batsman guided Pune side after the middle order collapse following Steve Smith and MS Dhoni’s dismissal.
S Arvind, Adam Milne, and Shane Watson wrecked havoc on the Pune middle order. From 127 for 2 Pune were decimated to 130 for 7. A promising innings was derailed by quick strikes. At that time, Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary played an important knock to add some important runs to the scoreboard. Tiwary knew what his team expected from him as he walked into the middle in the 17th over at No. seven. Though Watson was unleashing a barrage of toe-crushers against Dhoni, Tiwary with only three overs left went for shots from the very first ball. Tiwary after the match said that he was reading Watson’s mind. “I was just trying to read the mind of the bowler,” Tiwary said.
“I was observing what he (Shane Watson) was trying to do to MS Dhoni. He set a field and bowled differently. He got a wicket in the form of MS. For the kind of field set, I knew he’ll bowl similarly to me. Once the bouncer went for a wide, I knew he wouldn’t bowl another one. He bowled in my areas, he missed his execution, and I was up for it. Pretty happy to contribute in the last phase.
