Gujarat Lions registered their first win of IPL-10 after they defeated Rising Pune Supergiant by seven wickets with 12 balls to spare. Catch the full video highlights of the match here.

Andrew Tye starred for Gujarat by taking a hat-trick on IPL debut and then coming out for the chase, Dwayne Smith (47) and Brendon McCullum (49) put up a solid opening partnership to help them chase down Pune’s target of 172. After the dismissal of Smith and McCullum, it was Suresh Raina (35*) and Aaron Finch (33*) who took Gujarat home comfortably. (IPL 2017: Full coverage)

Tye, apart from the hat-trick also claimed the first five-wicket haul of the season. Manoj Tiwary (31), Ankit Sharma (25) and Shardul Thakur became part of his hat-trick scalps.

Earlier, put in to bat, Pune lost in-form Ajinkya Rahane for a duck in the first over bowled by Praveen Kumar. Rahane looking to work the ball to third man was caught brilliantly one-handed by Suresh Raina stationed in the slips.

Then skipper Steve Smith (43) and opener Rahul Tripathi (33) launched an offensive, especially taking Praveen to the cleaners by scoring 25 runs in an over. When Pune were blazing away, Tye provided the breakthrough by dismissing Tripathi off a slower ball and getting caught by Aaron Finch at mid-off.

After the ninth over’s strategic time-out Dwayne Smith got the big wicket of Smith, again caught by Finch at long on. The next over, Tye bowled Stokes (25) to end his vigil.

MS Dhoni (5) failed in his successive fourth match, falling to Ravindra Jadeja who was playing in his first match of IPL 2017. While Tiwary scored valuable 31 runs and Sharma 25 down the order to help Pune post a competitive total of 171 for 8 in 20 overs.
