Opener Rahul Tripathi has been a revelation for Rising Pune Supergiant this season. The right-handed batsman was instrumental in RPS’ progression to next round. However, Tripathi missed out in the first qualifier against Mumbai Indians and was dismissed for a duck. The young batsman has now vowed to put up a good show in the finals against the same opposition.

In an interview with IANS, Tripathi said it a dream experience, and he is thrilled to play with and against world-class players.

“It’s been a pleasure to train and learn under the guidance of top notch players like Steve Smith and M.S. Dhoni. On being asked how he coped up with team’s defeats in the initial stage, Tripathi said: “Even after being on the field for so many years, it is difficult to accept loss. But what is more important is to wake up and hit the field with the same enthusiasm.”

“My biggest motivation post a loss is to train and practice hard enough to erase the loss by winning the next match. Also, I strongly believe that sometimes losses prove to be a stepping stone to success,” he added.

Speaking about his fitness, Tripathi said it is important to maintain a healthy diet. “Eating healthy and exercising is the best way for an athlete to stay fit and perform at his/her best. It is important for a sportsperson to choose the right nutrients to build muscle and select the right food to help repair injuries. Protein and fibre are essential to include in a sportsperson’s diet,” he said.

Tripathi has scored 388 runs from 13 matches. His controlled aggression at the top has helped Pune get off to good starts in the league stage. Tripathi scored 93 off 52 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders which was one of his notable innings.
