Ahead of Indian Premier League 2017 Eliminator match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad faced a huge blow as veteran pacer Ashish Nehra was ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
Defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad’s head coach Tom Moody confirmed the non-availability of the left-arm pacer. “Ashish Nehra won’t be fit for the remainder of the tournament,” he told media in an interaction on the eve of the IPL eliminator clash between Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Nehra, who missed a league match against Rising Pune Supergiant on May 06 with a hamstring strain, won’t be part of SRH title defence. Sunrisers will now depend on Mohammad Siraj, who has already been a revelation for the side. Also Read- Yuvraj Singh tweets farewell message for Misbah-Ul-Haq and Younis Khan
With Nehra out, SRH are sweating over middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh’s fitness. Moody said the left-handed Punjab batsman will be undergoing a fitness test on Tuesday evening.
“Yuvraj will be undergoing a fitness test this evening. We will be giving him obviously the opportunity to prove his fitness,” he said.
Yuvraj, who had scored 243 runs in 11 games this IPL, had sustained an injury in his fingers against Mumbai Indians and missed the crucial game against Gujarat.
Sunrisers, who finished third on the points table take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator on May 17 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The David Warner-led side will be looking to clinch their second consecutive IPL title.
