Delhi Daredevils youngster Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have played yet another mind blowing innings as they helped their side to register a victory against Gujarat Lions at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi on Thursday. While Pant scored 97 Samson scored a quick fire 31 balls 61 while chasing 208. Pant and Samson’s built 143 runs third wicket partnership which inspired Daredevils to chase down the target within 17.3 overs. Pant, who has grabbed the attention after playing a remarkable domestic season, missed his maiden IPL hundred by three runs. His brutal 43-ball 97 run innings came to an end when he nicked Basil Thampi’s delivery to wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. When a disappointed Pant was walking back to the pavilion, Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina walked up to the youngster and consoled him for missing the hundred even after playing a rollicking innings.

However, Pant’s dismissal didn’t help Gujarat Lions as his innings helped Daredevils to bag the match. The 19-year-old promising southpaw’s innings has given an indication that he could be the next big thing in Indian cricket. As Pant massacred visiting side bowlers, Gujarat Lions’ hope for making the playoffs met the end. Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise for the youngster. “One of the best Innings I have seen in the IPL & that includes all 10 seasons. @RishabPant777,” Tendulkar said.

Pant was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’ for his 43-balls 97 run innings.
