Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) star batsman AB de Villiers said he is ‘scared’ of Indian cricket due to Indian Premier League (IPL).
The South Africa One Day International (ODI) team skipper, during an interview to Forbes India, said the Indian cricket was getting “stronger and stronger” due to IPL.
“I am scared of Indian cricket; it’s just getting stronger and stronger because of the IPL,” De Villiers said.
AB de Villiers praising the IPL said it gives talented youngsters a platform to play with the best of the world. “No other country has that,” said de Villers.
“The IPL has introduced so many Indian youngsters to this great experience of playing under pressure against the best in the world. They (the other countries) are slowly but surely catching up, but India is far ahead of that. I think they have got some great talent, there are some great youngsters coming through always… the future is in great hands,” explained de Villiers.
The last season’s runner-up RCB have had a disappointing season in IPL 2017 as they finished at the bottom of the tournament with dismal seven points in 14 matches.
RCB’s one of the most brutal batsman AB de Villiers also experienced a forgettable campaign in the tenth edition of IPL. The stylish right-handed batsman managed just 216 runs in nine matches at an average 27 with highest score unbeaten 89. In the Purple Cap list, he is placed at 40th position.
RCB won their final match against Delhi Daredevils by ten runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Sunday. However, AB de Villiers missed the final match as he had already left for South Africa last week.
AB de Villiers had joined the RCB squad in the middle of the tournament as he was recovering from injury. Since he joined the team, RCB won only three games.
