So, if it was Dinesh Karthik first, it seems CSK star Faf du Plessis has joined the bid-bye-bandwagon once the IPL 2018 is over. Faf was instrumental in leading CSK to the finals with his unbeaten 67* against SunRisers Hyderabad in the first eliminator. He may not have had the best of tournaments by his standards, but it seems he stood up and came good when it mattered the most. And that is what separates champions from ordinary players.

The South African limited overs captain played merely 6 matches for CSK and scored 162 runs at an average of 32.40. The figures may not reflect the kind of player Faf is, but his knock, when it counted, just made all of us believe he still has a good amount of cricket left in him. Meanwhile, CSK romped home to clinch their 3rd IPL title, but we are certain this tasted the best as they were making a comeback after a gap of 2 years.  The expectations was sky-high from the yelloves and they delivered.

After spending a good 7 weeks, it is time for most foreign cricketers to return home. It seems Faf got a touch too emotional as his latest tweet reflected just that. His tweet read,”Excited to be going home after 7 weeks at the IPL… Was really good being back at @ChennaiIPL this year. What a franchise it has been over the years. Proud to be part of another trophy with CSK”.

South Africa is slated to tour Sri Lanka in July. The IPL should help Faf get a good idea of the sub-continental conditions, which in turn will help South Africa.
