Pune, April 20: Shane Watson scored the second century of the IPL 2018 for CSK against RR at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium here on Friday. The Australian’s ton came after Chris Gayle scored an unbeaten 104 for KXIP in a losing cause against SRH against SRH on Thursday.

It was the third century for Watson in the IPL, which came off 51 deliveries. It also became the 49th century in IPL. The Australian notched up the century against his former side — RR. Scoring 106 run off 57 deliveries, it also became his highest individual score in the IPL. His innings was laced with nine boundaries and six hits over the fence. The innings also took Watson to the second highest run scorer in the IPL this season, behind Virat Kohli and Sanju Samson.

CSK, thus posted a total of 204/5 in 20 overs after being asked to bat by the RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane. Previously the highest total chased at the MCA here was 196/7 by Gujarat Lions against RPSG in April 2016 — the match went to the last ball.

Besides Watson, Suresh Raina who was dismissed for 46 runs played an important cameo knock before he was sent back by Shreyas Gopal.

The most centuries scored by any franchise so far is RCB (12), followed by KXIP (10) and DD (7). Meanwhile, KKR and SRH have the least individual centuries with one each.
