IPL 2019: Betting is back to haunt the cash-rich Indian Premier League 2019. Seven bookies were arrested ahead of the KKR v RCB match at Eden Gardens from F1 Block. It was today, on the basis of source information regarding cricket betting at Eden Gardens, Kolkata for VIVO IPL cricket match played between KKR and RCB a group has been nabbed. A team of ARS, DD after prolong watch was able to fix up a group of seven persons who were involved in cricket betting at F1 Block, Eden Gardens and subsequently seven persons (three persons from Nagpur and four persons from Madhya Pradesh ) were arrested from F1 block. 14 mobile phones including one betting accessory, etc have been seized. A specific case is being recorded at Maidan Police Station, according to Zee News inputs.
A couple of days ago, a betting racket was busted in Hyderabad as well.
An amount of Rs 1 lakh, mobile phones, and other material was seized from accused Mahesh Singh and Sai Kiran Yadav. Both from Jiyaguda have been arrested and the prime suspect Sudesh Singh alias Laddu is absconding.
This is not the first time that IPL has come under the scanner.
