IPL 2019: Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders — Not just MS Dhoni and Ravichandran Ashwin, we also saw Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik losing his cool against Kings XI Punjab. The incident happened during a strategic time-out when Karthik gave a public dressing-down to his players. The incident took place after Nicholas Pooran onslaught. Karthik is usually a cool customer and hence it was surprising for fans to see this avatar of the wicketkeeper-batsman. Karthik had already revealed in his post-match presentation after the Mumbai match, where he admitted that everything is not right in the dressing room.
Here is the video where you can see Karthik giving a piece of his mind:
Meanwhile, young Sam Curran brought up his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) half-century as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) posted a promising 183/6 in 20 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a big encounter at the PCA I.S. Bindra Stadium on Friday.
Curran, who did not play the last couple of matches, came in to bat when Kings XI were 140/4 after 13.3 overs, having lost Mayank Agarwal (36; 26 balls, 4×2, 6×1) and, more importantly, Nicholas Pooran (48; 27 balls, 4×3, 6×4) in quick succession.
The England all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 24-ball 55 with the help of seven fours and two sixes as Kings XI plundered 58 runs in the last five overs.
Earlier in the day, Sandeep Warrier (2/31) jolted Kings XI early, accounting for both of their top-performing batsmen K.L. Rahul (2) and Chris Gayle (14). Rahul was the first to go with Chris Lynn taking his catch at mid-on after the India batsman tried to clear the infield.
At the time of filing the copy, Gill was leading the KKR chase with a brilliant fifty. KKR are 145/2 in 14 overs and are cruising.
