IPL 2019: Andre Russell could not have given himself a better gift than winning the match for KKR with his heroics at Eden Gardens. Russell turned 31 and he hit a breathtaking 40-ball 80 against Mumbai Indians to help KKR beat Mumbai after four years. KKR won the match by 34 runs and soon after the match was over, Russell was interviewed by his wife Jassym Lora. It was a lovable interview where Russell admits he wanted to impress his wife and he was happy that he was able to do that. He also said that he wanted to make sure that the fans were happy. His wife soon asks him if she is the lucky charm, to which he replies with a ‘yes’.
Meanwhile, KKR win meant they stay afloat in the league.
“It was a special night for me as well. It’s my birthday. I always feel pressure because I want to make sure the fans are happy and I want to impress my beautiful wife (with) every match,” Russell told Jassym.
Asked about his emotions about playing their last match at home this season, the West Indian said: “It’s an emotional feeling. It was the last game of the season in Kolkata. We knew that we had to leave the fans who have been giving us great support over the last six days with a bang. We surely did, won by 34 runs.”
